Biography

Born in the Lorraine region (northeast of France) in the ‘60s, I’ve kept the love of nature that has marked the art made in my region so much. The same love of the countryside, autumn skies and their sepulchral light.
But my photo project isn’t just to document what I see, but also what I feel. I try and question the univocal character of reality, unmask the multiple strata that it is made up of and - perhaps - glimpse the frontiers that separate it from dreams.
Using film without any computer retouching allows me to get back to the essence of the photographic image. Only this sublimated representation of the world (in the chemical sense of the term) can show what I cannot naturally see: its infinite presence. This is uncovered in my work in a world without frontiers and without limits. In this way, photography becomes palimpsest: the past is revealed in the present, instants no longer follow each other, they are superimposed.
This experience of simultaneousness is transformed aesthetically into a vibration of light where all temporalities seem to mix together, the elements fuse, the being dissolves. Barely a silhouette, already a memory, the latter disappears in the confusion of elements.
But don’t get the wrong idea: the world that I try to show cannot be reduced to just a picturesque interior spectacle. For me it is also the echo of an interior landscape that is born from the one’s most secret place, in the regions of the soul where the intimate meets the universal. With this, the photographic image is not longer a work taken form memory but an intimate recomposition, with in the limits of a frame, space and time, reality and dreams. It is this meeting point that my photos invite you to discover.
