Les Hôtels Paris Rive Gauche

JANUARY 2008 : RIICHI YAMAGUCHI

Last minute

"Having checked in at the hotel reception I wandered inside with my camera in hand, wondering what to shoot for this hotel project. All of the sudden, I found myself standing in front a door left slightly opened... Quietly, I opened the door a little further, peeked inside, and made sure nobody was there. I could faintly hear a man and a woman, laughing. It seemed as though it was coming from the shower room. I imagined them having a bath together.
Out of my pure curiosity, I decided to sneak into the room, daring not to make a sound. I glanced around this stranger's room, then took one quick shot and hastily tiptoed out. I went back directly to my room and checked my image just taken, in my digital camera. As I studied the picture, I found, on their bed, a few travel maps of Paris, a couple of tangled up pieces of clothes, and three unevenly placed pillows thrown on top of the sheets. I figured that they've had a really romantic night and imagined that before their morning bath, they'd made travel plans of their day in the city.

Suddenly, I felt something warm brush against my back... It must be the bosom of my fiance, sound asleep and dreaming right next to me. I felt a sharp light in my eyes finding myself in the bed. We'd overslept past the check-out time. Changing our clothes and packing things in a wild speed, I snatched my camera and took one quick picture of our room and closed the door behind."
