Painted Veil

I go in with her, Hôtel des Grands Hommes.

A deafening silence covers room 52. On the walls, over fifteen lions, twice as many sheep and healthy oxen look for each other in a blood red landscape.

She explores, opens the door, switches on the lights, umps on the bed...

We can see through the window the huge place du Panthéon. The roads seems to have been caved out around the monument.

I switch off the standby light of the television and unscrew the lightbulbs.

She gets undressed in the semi-darkness. Her clothes lightly touch the thick carpet.

She lies down and I paint her.

Biography

Born in 1980 in Angers, lives and works in Paris.
During his photography studies, Guillaume Amat worked for a year as an archivist/iconographer at the Magnum-Photos-Paris agency. He became part of the Signatures-photographies agency in October 2008.

In his work, he never ceases to question the photographic representation itself by using diffreent cameras, formats and sensitive surfaces. He makes use of all the specificities offered by the supports and techniques, each time looking for the right medium for the chosen photographic view. With his images, he tries to construct photographic stories that are soemwhere between poetry and reporting.
