Gentle ascension. They night has already slowed. Tonight the Grands Hommes want to daydream. I open the window. The silence facing me, the voyage in front me. This is what I like about hotels. That's exactly what they are: a piece of home on a huge background of somewhere else. I thank, close the window and return to the bed. This décor has filled me up. Now, I'm at home here. Biography Whatever the subject or the places selected - a night-time walk on the motorway, a pokey room, a concreted “cage town” leaving no space for the sky, or the contrary, a deserted landscape where nature is fighting back – Romain Osi composes images that he offers for viewing like fragments of life extracted from a world with surgical precision. The night and its electric lights often give these scenes a blurred frame where characters suddenly appear, like unexpected apparitions. Photographs which are sometimes crossed with flashes of light, sometimes filled with a green of blue-ish aura, announcing the arrival of a new day. Often called a “photographer of wanderings”, Romain Osi opens a window through which fantasy-like or fantasised hallucinations and enigmatic places are the perfect backdrop for his search for truth: truth about oneself and our familiar or singular environments. The artist's quest becomes that of someone watching, being reminded of their solitude, their questions, their ever-changing aspirations, their wishful thinking. The photographer offers the spectator who chooses to cross this corridor, this room, this motorway, this beach, this sky with him a confrontation with themselves. Born in 1980 in Paris, Romain Osi is a member of the Picturetank agency. Photographer for the Paris city council, he also works with the French and foreign press.
