We jump from branch to branch, climbing the mountain as we go. The weather is temperate.
Once at the top, we listen to the wind sweeping into the trees. He looks at me and sets a challenge. I accept. Facing the drop, I jump forward, as if I have always known how to fly... The fall lasts for a while... I try to scream... no sound comes out. It's when I turn my head that I see him.
With a start,
he has forgotten to turn off the light. Outside, it is December and his feet are frozen. I turn over on the other side.
