Christian Lacroix designs for Evian

Each year, Evian releases a limited edition bottle for the holiday period. This year the extremely stylish Christian Lacroix has done the design.

What talent! He’s designed a couple of hotels, he’s designed books covers, he’s designed the interiors of the new TGV fast trains and staff uniforms (check out a few photos here). So what next for Christian Lacroix? How about designing… water?

Evian had a brilliant marketing idea a few years ago: while everyone is downing large amounts of alcohol during the holiday period, let’s try and sell more water! They went about this by having a limited edition bottle made every year, insisting that it was a collector’s item. Indeed, only about a million are made! Although that doesn’t sound very limited, you’ll have to go to larger supermarkets to find one. Some people though will go to any expense to get one, which explain perhaps why a bottle recently sold on eBay for 61 euros ($87). 61 euros for a bottle of water!

So, this year’s bottle has a baroque feel to it, very Lacroix, but I must admit that the glass lady on the left reminds me of grandma’s house, with porcelain statuettes and china rabbits on dusty shelves. Not quite sure what’s going on there…

Anyway, if you’re coming through Paris before the end of the year, perhaps you should pick one up to wow your friends and show what incredible good taste you have. Cheers!
