Frightening as it may sound, Paris is already preparing the January 2008 sales…


I don’t know about you, but I haven’t even thought about Xmas presents yet, despite the fact that the supermarkets are already packed high with extremely dodgy-looking chocolates. Well, Paris is one step ahead of you and me. The city certainly know how to sell itself, and the January sales of 2008 (starting 9th January 2008) are another chance to bring tourists to our beautiful city so they can do some cut price shopping.

Frankly, it’s not a bad idea.

Paris is a great place for shopping (indeed shopping is the second most popular reason for tourists to visit the city, just behind culture), with both designer boutiques and grand department stores. “Soldes by Paris” intends to build on the first event that was held last year, when over 1,200 shops joined in, and January 2008 will see a number of new developments. For example, 5 different shopping routes (Chic, Romantic, Trendy, Eco and Unusual) will be explained via a special shopping booklet available in shop and hotels, with information desks at strategic points along the routes and trilingual “shopping coaches” to help you with any problems you may have.

There will also be a special night with late opening, and a launch party the day before to get everyone in the spending mood. There are some real bargains to be had during the sales, so don’t miss it!

Soldes by Paris 2008 runs from 9th-20th January 2008.
