Burt Lancaster by Bruno de Monès

One of the portraits in the exhibition currently being held near the Théatre de l’Odéon (all the details are in our article here). Click through to read the story behind the photo…

Burt Lancaster (1913-1994), American actor and filmmaker. Deauville, 1979.

Another photo taken for me, during the American Film Festival at Deauville. A friend had told me that he would be there, so I jumped on my motorbike and drove to Deauville. I thought I’d just wing it and tried calling his hotel, the Hotel Normandie. AFter not getting through several times (I called every thirty minutes) I managed to get hold of him. He told me to meet him at the Hôtel du Golf.

He arrived without any fuss. I introduced myself and showed him some photos (the one of Klaus Kinski, in particular). He agreed to have his photo taken. An unforgettable moment for me. In the middle of all that nature, in front of the Hôtel du Golf, in the blazing sunshine.

The Bruno de Monès exhibition continues until 26th June 2010.
