20 years already? Wow! And this festival is still just as popular. This year the theme is “What it’s like to be 20” (how apt!) and as always all the screenings cost zero euros. Hurrah! Here’s the details…

Ah, a balmy summer evening, the stars, a deckchair (7€, or 20€ for five), a picnic (bring your own)… Simple pleasures! The Villette outdoor film festival has been spreading the love – free, if you will – for the last 20 years. It’s strange to think that soem of the people now attending weren’t even born when the festival was started!

The concept hasn’t radically changed: each evening at nightfall, you can see a film for free (30-odd over the festival period). No recent films but some absolute classics and even some new short films by student from Paris films school la Femis (each Friday).
