Jean Dubuffet Coucou Bazar exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs from 23rd October – 1st December 2013

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the unclassifiable piece by Jean Dubuffet, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs is showing the original costumed, specially restored for the event, in their impressive main room.

However, the exhibition runs for just five weeks, so make sure you hurry…

Here’s all the info.Exposition Jean Dubuffet Coucou Bazar au Musée des Arts Décoratifs du 23 octobre au 1er décembre 2013The ‘moving picture’ Coucou Bazar was only shown three times – at the Guggenheim in New York in 1973, then in Paris later in the same year and finally in Torino in 1978. The Arts Décoratifs isn’t recreating the show but showing the costumes – works of art in their own right – together with photos, letters, drawings and films to show how the piece was conceived and produced.

For example, you’ll finally be able to understand the odd names given to some of the costumes – Nini la Minaude, La Simulatrice, Le Grand Malotru, Le Triomphateur…
