The 2016 Open Air Film Festival at la Villette
30th July-21st August

Almost cancelled, the Paris Open Air Film Festival will still be happening at la Villette… but indoors, in the Grande Halle!

And it’s completely free! Here’s all the info.

This year’s theme for the Open Air Film Festival at la Villette is “dress code”, and the selection is an interesting mix of blockbusters and arthouse films. All films are shown in their original language, so even non-French speakers can enjoy the US/UK movies.

For example, there’s a James Bond, a classic by Joseph Mankiewicz, Interstellar with Matthew McConaughey, French classic Les Demoiselles de Rochefort, Drive with Ryan Gosling…

Those with better French skills (for reading subtitles) will be able to enjoy quirkier choices like Barbara by Christian Petzold, Wadjda by Haifa Al-Mansour or Like Father, Like Son by Hirozaku Kore-Eda (Prix du Jury à Cannes en 2013).

All the showings are free, and so are the deckchairs, so there’s no excuse for not going! Just know that places are now limited to 1,000 people per night, so feel free to get there when doors open at 8.30pm (films start at 9.30pm).

All in all, a super cheap great night out!

The Festival de film en plein air is at la Villette (here) from 30th July-21st August

Films every night from Wednesday-Sunday at 9.30pm (doors open 8.30pm)

Free!
