It’s the most popular public trade fair of the year, and a great day out for the whole family – the Salon de l’Agriculture!
It’s your chance to meet every animal possible (including this year’s star cow, and we are not joking) and down lots of free food, wine, wine, food and more food.
And you’re in luck – it’s just a few minutes from our hotels! Here’s all the info.
The Salon de l’Agriculture is massive, with over 600,000 visitors every year. It fills every hall of the Porte de Versailles exhibition space. No other trade fair can compete with that!
3,800 animals await your loving caress, as well as 1,000 stands and over 22,000 different products and wines. Indeed it’s difficult to know whether most people actually visit to see the animals ro just eat them for free.
In recent years, the salon has made a valiant effort to convince people that agriculture is becoming more modern and eco-friendly, but several high-profile revelations in the French press about conditions in abattoirs, and how pesticides are probably killing us as well as bees, means that it’s a trick tightrope to walk.
Perhaps this is the moment to really talk to the people doing the work, and see what they think?
In any case, once you get there, you certainly won’t be bored. There are thousands of things to do, including workshops for kids, hundreds of tastings, meet ‘n’ greets with farmers, tractor demonstrations, contest for the best animal and a whole lot more.
The mobile app for the event should help you plan ahead and get around once you’re there. Good luck!
