The 2017 Camera Clara prize at the Folia Gallery,19th January – 17th March 2018

The Folia Gallery has a new exhibition showing the two finalists and winner of the 2017 Camera Clara Prize, a competition organised every year since 2012 for photographers that use film rather than digital photography.

The opening party and prize-giving ceremony is this evening, our pal Patrick Tourneboeuf is one of the three photographers on show, and it’s close to our hotels!

Here’s all the info.

Mustapha Azeroual (for his Ellios #2 project) and our mate Patrick Tourneboeuf (for his Next City project) are the two finalists for the 2017 Camera Clara Prize, and their photos are on show at the Folia Gallery until 17th March.

While the subjects chosen by the two photographers are completely different, it could be said that their use of film rather than digital photography lends their work a special feel that would be difficult to reproduce through other methods.

This year’s winner is Guillaume Zuili and his Urban Jungle project.

Born in Paris in 1965, Zuili is now an American citizen and has lived in Los Angeles since 2002, which goes some way to explaining the subject matter of his photos.

If you want to see more of his work, there’s another exhibition of his – Smoke & Mirrors – being shown until 10th February 2018 at the Clémentine de la Féronniere Gallery, photos of Los Angeles that can also be found in the book of the exhibition (available here).

So there you go – three photo exhibitions for the price of one await you at the Folia Gallery, and the opening party and prize-giving ceremony are this evening, 18th January, starting 6.30pm. The artists will be present, and it’s free, so try and drop by!
