SFX at the Eiffel Tower, 17th April – 1st July 2018

The Eiffel Tower, near our hotels, has a cool new activity on offer in the first floor exhibition space – three interactive experiences to make you feel like an actor in a movie with special effects!

Here’s all the info.

If you love special effects movies, this new event at the Eiffel Tower is for you! Incidentally, it’s also a way to discover the story of the Tower and its relationship with movies.

Three experiences await you:

1. Chroma keying. Here, a green screen will make it look like you are walking high up along one of the Tower’s metal beams. Don’t look down!

2. Make like an acrobat! Lying on the floor with the camera on its side, it will look like you are doing a vertical dive. This technique has been used since the early 20th century, for example in the short film Les Kiriki (1907) by Segundo de Chomón.

3. The photocall. Pop your head into one of the frames, make your best selfie face and post it on the social networks using the hashtag #çatourneàlatour.

These three attractions are all taken from the exhibition “Special effects – steal the scene!” which is on at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in the north of Paris until 18th August 2018.

And this event is just the start of a movie-realted series at the Eiffel Tower, with a red carpet feel for summer (including a cocktail bar) and a kids-themed event in the autumn, when two animated films are being released with the Tower heavily featured.
