Isabel Muñoz exhibition The Anthropology of feelings / Fragments at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, 25th October – 21st December 2018
There’s a new exhibition starting, hosted by our friends at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, very close to our hotels.
It’s called The Anthropology of feelings and is by Isabel Muñoz, a photographer who seems to be fascinated by the body, or more specifically, how it can be modified…
Our obsession for marking our skin and transforming our bodies is not recent. Primitive peoples around the world have been modifying / adorning themselves since the beginning of time, and the tradition is still very much alive in the 21st century.
In The Anthropology of feelings Isabel Muñoz shows us tattoos, scarification and piercings. Her photos question our notions of beauty, our connection with the old gods and tradition.
How do we juggle our narcissism with our masochism? What role does ecstasy and mysticism play in these embellishments?
If you would like to ask the photographer these questions directly, you can do so at the exhibition opening party on 25th October where she will be present to sign her book The Anthropology of feelings (208 pages, 124 photos, 30€ here).
As the opening party is open to everyone, and near our hotels, feel free to drop by to check out the photos and sip a little (free) glass of wine!
The exhibition The Anthropology of feelings / Fragments by Isabel Muñoz is at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff (here) from 25th October – 21st December 2018
Opening party 25th October, 6-9pm
Open Wednesday-Saturday, midday-7pm
