Now here’s a weird and wonderful exhibition for you. Time to get to know some yōkai, supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore, with help from works of art by Murakami Takashi and his Kaikai Kiki collective.
The interactive exhibition is aimed at being fun, and shows how the Japanese artistic scene uses a multitude of influences and cultural references that are then mixed with age-old traditions.
Among the sculptures and installations you’ll see original drawings from manga comics, figurines and other objects from popular culture, et autres objets issus de la pop culture, as well as traditional Japanese works of art: watercolours, masks, Emakimono (painted rolls with a horizontal narrative)…
The usual visits and related workshops are on offer, as well as a catalogue of the exhibition (96 pages, 15€ here at amazon.fr).
However, the visit that interest us the most is called “L’art’Péro” – it’s only for adults, happens on a Thursday evening at 5.30pm and 6.30pm, and is fllowed by a drink! This unusual event costs 10€ per person, and you have to sign up for it here.
