It’s all change for the Paris bus network, starting 20th April 2019

The Paris bus map hadn’t changed at all (almost) since the 1950s, but in the past 70 years, as you might imagine, the city has evolved quite a lot.

Starting 20th April 2019, the city’s bus lines will be changing, with new routes, changes to existing routes and a few lines removed/replaced…

The métro is great for getting across Paris, but if you want to marvel at our wonderful city’s architecture, and you have a little time, there’s nothing like the bus.

It felt like the bus system could never change, but here we are – after three years of planning and consultations – on the cusp of the biggest change the Parisians have known since it became illegal to smoke in cafés and bars!

Five new bus lines are being created (all wheelchair accessible), fifty lines are being modified or extended, there will be 110 extra buses in circulation, and 700 new drivers have been trained. It’s a petite révolution!

On the day of the changeover, the 20th April 2019, 10,000 special staff members will be there to help you out and answer questions, and there’s a website – nouveaureseaubusparisien.fr – already in place that can help you anticipate the changes, thanks to its interactive map.

You might also like to check out Citymapper, which has a website and smartphone app for Android and iOS. It’s super practical for getting around town.

And feel free to ask our receptionists if you need help!
