Everyone to the Opera!, 3rd, 4th, 5th May 2019

Our two opera houses, the Opéra Garnier and Opéra Bastille (plus a couple of other places with an interest in opera) await you this weekend for an event not to be missed – Tous à l’Opéra ! – (Everyone to the Opera!) with free entrance, guided visits backstage, meet-ups with staff and a lot more…

In Paris we are lucky enough to have two wonderful opera houses, as well as other spaces where classical music and dance can be expressed.

This weekend, you can have a look round these places for free and discover the numerous people who make the magic happen.

At the Opéra Garnier you can visit the library which is normally closed to the public, or go on a guided visit (booking essential).

Videos from a series called Arts & Maîtrise will be shown in the main foyer, there’s a workshop for making your own stage costume, and the wardrobe workshop can be visited between 1.30 and 4.30pm (booking essential).

The Opéra Bastille has four guided visits throughout the day, but they appear to be booked up already. ☹️

Other venues are taking part in the event as well, like the National Library (or Bibliothèque nationale de France). On their Richelieu site there will be modern dance in the Rotonde des Arts du spectacle.

And at the Opéra Comique free visits are on offer (some for lip-readers, some in French sign language), as well as visits of the wardrobe and wig workshops, a concert for kids, a singing workshop and quite a few other events.

26 operas across the country are opening specially for the annual event, and there’s a lot to see, so be sure to make the most of it!

Tous à l’Opéra ! is on 3rd, 4th and 5th Mai 2019 at the Opéra Garnier, Opéra Bastille, Opéra Comique and BNF (Richelieu site)
