Fluctuart is “the first floating platform for urban art in the world”, spread over 850m² and three levels, with exhibitions, a café, specialised bookshop, workshops…
And it’s near our hotels!
The hold has glass panel at each end to give you a stunning view up and down the Seine, with different levels, a workshop, exhibition spaces and offices.
The main deck, with glass windows on each side, is also used for exhibitions, and the upstairs terrace is open to the elements and houses a bar – the perfect place for a snack or a drink.
The Seine that flows underneath the barge can be seen from every level thanks to clever transparencies and open spaces.
The venue opens on 3rd June 2019 with an exhibition entitled Time Capsule by street-artist Swoon (which runs until 22nd September 2019), her first in France. The artist will be in residence for two weeks, during which she will create a new piece.
Other installations can also be found in the permanent collection (the Smartify app allows you to scan them for more info), there are free guided visits every day, brunch and workshops on Sundays, and the first evening event (of many, no doubt) is called Pure Fluctuatomik with concerts and DJs on 10th June.
And let’s not forget the, specialised bookshop that opens from midday, Wednesday to Sunday (closes at 8pm Wednesday, 7pm Thursday and Friday, and 6pm weekends).
Looks like a very interesting project. And as it’s near our hotels and free, you should probably go down and take a look!
