The first exhibition after the summer for our friends at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff (not far from our hotels) isn’t a photo exhibition, for the first time ever (unless our memory deceives us)! Instead, you’ll be able to see the intricate drawings and paintings of artist Anne-Flore Cabanis.
The technique that Anne-Flore Cabanis uses for her drawings is pretty incredible. The work above (Jaune à vert – Yellow to green) is hand-drawn with a single interrupted line that never crosses itself. Some of her works can take weeks to finish, and it’s not difficult to see why.
As for her paintings, she uses colour in a very particular way, adding them one at a time in a vertical movement.
It seems her work has a ritualistic side to it, almost like a performance, with rules that must be respected.
Cabanis also creates installations in public spaces, made using adhesive tapes or coloured elastic. A brand new exclusive installation will be part of the Paris exhibition.
And if you would like further explanation of her work, Cabanis will be at the exhibition opening (that you’re invited to!) on Thursday 5th September 2019 from 6-9pm.
