The Music of Picasso at the Paris Philharmonic until 3rd January 2021

This new exhibition at the Paris Philharmonic, organised in collaboration with the Paris Picasso Museum, explores the music dimension of Picasso’s work, the musicians present in his paintings, his collaboration with the Russian ballet, his love of flamenco…

Picasso was a steadfast lover of traditional music – not just the music itself but also the atmosphere of shows (corridas, the circus…), the costumes anf even the form of the instruments (that he would transform in his cubist paintings).

The painter was also friends with famous composers including Satie and Stravinski – music really was an important part of his life. The exhibitions explores these influences, showing not just his paintings but also costumes and accessories proving how close Picasso’s world was to that of musical performance, and for the first time around twenty instruments to compare with their painted counterparts.
