Thierry Cohen Cutting Edge exhibition at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, 17th March – 24th April 2021

After his stunning photos of starry nights in city centres, Thierry Cohen is back, making us think about our relationship to our environment with his new series Cutting Edge, on show thanks to our lovely friends at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, super close to our hotels!

In lockdown in the spring of 2020 like everyone else, Thierry Cohen looked through the drawers of his workshop and pulled out something he’d been keeping aside – arrowheads from 4,000 BC. For him, this was the perfect subject matter to motivate and inspire him.

In addition to the almost iridescent blues to be in the nineteen images, Cohen has placed a text or excerpt from an article that has some bearing on how our way of life is dominated by consumption, the toxic effects this has on the body, and the power wielded by countries and those in charge of them.

The mystery and troubling beauty that emanates from these stones makes us reflect on our past and future, a future we can make more rosy if we have a real desire to do so.

Two opening events are being organised to mark the beginning of the exhibition, in order to limit numbers and help people maintain a responsible distance.

Feel free to go to the gallery on either Wednesday 17th March or Saturday 20th March from midday-6pm. The artist will almost undoubtedly be present to answer your questions and sign his previous book of photos.
