Charles is a receptionist at the Hôtel Saint-André des Arts, our latest four-star hotel!

He explains how he came to work there and tells us which are his favourite restaurants nearby…

After studying for my baccalauréat économique et social, it seemed natural to continue my studies with a Brevet de technicien supérieur for the hotel and catering trade, something I was very familiar with since my childhood, as my mother was head housekeeper at a hotel, and both my father and father-in-law were cooks / caterers.

After my BTS, I started working at the reception desk of a five-star hotel near the Louvre. After searching for a post with more customer contact and a more relaxed atmosphere, I was hired as receptionist at a 4-star hotel near Bastille, and worked there for a year until Covid struck.

I used this period during the pandemic to train myself in different domains that I love: cryptocurrency, real estate and the stock market.

After this, I really wanted to return to a job as a receptionist, and arrived at the Saint-André des Arts in July 2021 with Josselin, the hotel’s manager. I love meeting and talking to our guests. It makes me very proud to be able to help them, knowing that I’m contributing to making their stay at great as possible. I feel at home at the Saint-André des Arts, the management is incredible and easy to talk to, and the general atmosphere is really good.

The hotel is in a lively neighbourhood with quite a few restaurants that I recommend to our guests: Le Colvert for its good price/value ratio, the Jacobine in the Cour du Commerce opposite the hotel, the Diva-des-Près and its flowery terrace, Roger la Grenouille for the meat-eaters, and Allard for its reputation.
