Disquaire Day (the frenchie version of Record Store Day) is back this Saturday with 230 exclusive vinyl releases up for grabs in the nation’s independent record stores. Picture discs, 7″s, box sets, coloured vinyl.. Forget Amazon – you won’t find these beauties there.

It’s a great time to discover the dedicated record shops keeping physical formats alive, the ones whose love of music has kept customers coming back during the hard years when big corporations almost stomped them out of existence.

Over the course of the day you can not only snag something special, but also go to a free concert of showcase, visit one of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Vinyl Markets (this one looks especially good!) or enjoy a night on the town for at one of the special events organised, like this on at the Petit Bain, a boat moored on the Seine not far from our hotels.

There are also DJ sets, the indy label convention, a tribute to JJ Cale, and much much more. The full programme can be consulted here (PDF).
