Following recent scientific research, it’s time to change the way we look at trees, and we have an idea of how you can start!

The new exhibition Trees at the Cartier Foundation, close to our hotels, collects work from artists, botanists and philosophers, showing the biological richness and beauty of trees, these remarkable giant plants.

Science has helped us realise that trees are not just big and (often) old plants – they have sensoria capabilities, they can communicate with each other, develop memory and live in symbiosis with other species.

In fact, thanks to their ability to stock CO₂ they may well save the planet!

Trees mixes work by artists and researchers, exploring questions of ecology and the relationship between man and nature through drawings, paintings, photos, films and installations.

Also, the website of the garden of the Foundation has been expanded to include an interactive map and a new page detailing each of the 24 different types of tree that you can find there.

Linked with the exhibition, a five-part web series on the Foundation’s website offers portraits of five artists, there are workshops for kids, and a catalogue of the exhibition has just been published (368 pages, 49€, here at amazon.fr).
