Renaud Capuçon concert in the Jardin des Plantes, 26th February 2020

Now here’s a weird and wonderful event for you, close to our hotels.

French violinist Renaud Capuçon is going to be giving a free evening concert in the lush setting of the Jardin des Plantes, accompanied by a symphonic orchestra and playing a transparent 3D-printed violin!

The concert is called Virtual Harmony, and is one of ten events being held around the world by Dassault Systèmes to promote their The Only Progress is Human programme.

Let us explain further…

It’s billed as a unique immersive event, mixing a symphonic orchestra with 3D-printing technology. It’s also the first time that a concert has been held in the evening in the Jardin des Plantes.

It’s called Virtual harmony, and lasts 50 minutes, during which Renaud Capuçon will play a violin unlike any other you’ve seen – his is transparent and created by a 3D printer. How modern!

A website explains more about the project, and the video below gives you an idea of how we can all “build the world of tomorrow and start a new era of durable innovation”. Sounds pretty great.

A special lightshow will accompany the concert, and while tickets are free, there won’t be enough for everyone.

Click here to book yours, and don’t forget that the concert begins at 8pm, doors open at 7pm, and you have to enter before 7.40pm!
