Geluck’s famous cat, Le Cat, will soon have his own museum in Brussels, but before that the famous cartoonist is spoiling us with a free exhibition in Paris comprised of twenty giant bronze cats, each 2.7m high and weighing 2½ tons!

Paris is lucky enough to be the first stop on what will be a vast tour – starting in June, ten other cities in France will be hosting the exhibition before it finally arrive in Brussels in 2023 for the opening of the new museum, called Le Musée du Chat et du dessin d’humour (The museum of Le Cat and humorous drawing). If you like the sculptures, you might be tempted to buy the catalogue slash comic book (160 pages, 25€ here at amazon.fr) that explains the story behind the project.

The website also details (in French) the twenty steps necessary to make each sculpture, from the initial sketch to the finished piece (click to read about steps 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16-20). Fascinating stuff!
