White Night nocturnal arts event, Saturday 2nd October 2021

It’s one of the most culturally stimulating nights of the year – la Nuit Blanche (White Night) is back in Paris with dozens of exceptional arts events to experience, and a hike around the city to take part in!

Let’s take a look at what’s going on near our hotels

It has to be said – this year a lot of the Nuit Blanche events are on the Right Bank (the other side of the Seine from us), but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing on offer in our neighbourhood.

The Left Bank is part of parcours Ouest (West trails), with a hike of around 6km on offer, with groups leaving place Balard at 7pm and 8pm and arriving at métro station Porte d’Auteuil about 2 hours later. You’ll be shown la petite ceinture (a former railway that circled Paris), the hothouses of Auteuil (where the plants and flowers are grown for the city’s parks) and the only Basque pelota court in Paris!

More info here.

Elsewhere, in the 5th arrondissement, the town hall (just next door to the Hotel les Dames du Pantheon and Hotel des Grands Hommes) is hosting a modern dance piece by Mourad Merzouki that everyone can take part in virtually. More info is to be found here.

Vincent Chevillon has a video installation at the Collège des Bernardins called The Pit (246 minutes in a loop!), filmed during a transatlantic trip on a sailboat. More info here.

At the Galerie Saint-Séverin, Rosa Maria Unda Souki is presenting an installation and exhibition called Intérieurs infinis which deals with the permanence of places and objects, and the fleeting nature of human presence. More info here.

At the Ségolène Brossette Galerie, Sylvie De Biasi is showing an installation with paintings, collages and a performance called Apis Hortus, showing the link between her observations of flowers, her life experiences, her interest in bees and beekeeping in general. More info here.

For the Nuit Blanche, the Army Museum would like you to discover 30 contemporary artists showing their interpretation of Napoleon, in an exhibition called Napoléon ? Encore ! which will be free for the evening (saving you 14 euros!).

Also, the dome of Les Invalides will be specially illuminated, and the Garde Républicaine’s symphonic orchestra will be playing with pianist Franck Braley in the Saint-Louis des Invalides cathedral. Should be good!

More info here. Oh, and why not go and have a coffee at The Gazoline Stand before or after?!

And at the Czech Republic Embassy, Brigita Zrustova and Dario Lopez Bastias have a reading / painting / sculpture / video paying homage to Julio Cortázar and Milan Kundera. Intriguing!

And of course that’s only a tiny part of what’s happening throughout the night. For the Western section near us, you can look at the programme here, and for the full programme covering all of Paris, click here.
