The Arab World Institute, close to our hotels, has a new exhibition taking a thematic and chronological look at Jewish culture and erudition in the Orient over the centuries.

Over the years, decades and centuries, many exchanges between Arab and Jewish societies have helped form and inform them both, and this new exhibition at the Arab World Institute explores the multiple facettes of this sometimes tumultuous cohabitation.

It’s a voyage that will take you to Cordoba, Cairo, Fès, Bagdad and other towns that have all been important in the evolution of Jewish intellectual and cultural life in the Orient – the spoken language, crafts, customs, scientific advances…

The exhibition benefits from loans of some extraordinary prestigious pieces from Spain, the USA, France, Morocco, England and Israel – manuscripts, many photos and paintings, and objects from daily life, with additional audiovisual installations and excerpts of music.

Linked with the exhibition there are concerts, conferences, stage shows and film screenings, and special care has been taken to engage younger generations.
