Like every yeat, Galeries Lafayette Haussmann has created the biggest Xmas you’ll see in Paris, and there’s a lot of other stuff going on in-store, like the Father Christmas photo-op in his grotto, a festive choir wandering around the floors, and even a ‘roller dance’ rink!

It’s a tradition to make at least one visit to Paris’ departments stores during the holiday period (Galeries Lafayette, Printemps and Le Bon Marché). If you do, your kids will love the animated window displays (our photos are coming soon) and be awed by the giant Christmas tree at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann.

If you’ve never seen it, here’s what to expect…

Every ten minutes or so, the lights stop momentarily and a short son et lumière starts (check out our video). It’s actually really well done!

While you’re in the store, there are a few festive events you might like to take advantage of:

— Have your photo taken with Santa in his grotto on the fifth floor. He’s there Wednesdays and weekends from 11am-7pm until 19th December, every day from 20th-23rd December from 11am-7pm, and Christmas Eve (last chance!) from 10am-6pm.

— Until 24th December (Wednesdays and weekends until 19th December, then every day after) the group Whisper Note will be singing jazzy Christmas carols every hour from 2.05pm-6.05pm in the main store.

— And the big event, for the first time ever, is, a free rollerskating rink in the store! Until 23rd December in the ‘Salon Opéra’ on the 4th floor of the main building, your can rollerskate for 30 minutes to the sounds of music from your favourite Disney+ films and series! The event is available to anyone over the age of 7, and you can sign up directly in-store using a QR code. Enjoy!
