The troublemaker of modern art\u00a0Maurizio Cattelan<\/a> (he who can sell\u00a0statues of Hitler for\u00a017 million dollars<\/a>) arrives at the\u00a0Monnaie de Paris<\/a>\u00a0with his biggest show in Europe to date.<\/p>\n

And it’s super close to our hotels<\/a>!<\/p>\n

\nDespite supposedly being retired since 2011, Maurizio Cattelan is back in Paris with the majority of his best-know works – the horse inserted in the wall, the kneeling statue of Hitler, the Pope crushed under a meteorite and a dozen others.<\/p>\n

Often rejected out of hands as gimmicky because of his ‘funny’ subjects (considered as not to be taken seriously), the artist actually believes that he work is much more\u00a0than simple provocation – if it weren’t, he says, it would quickly be forgotten.<\/p>\n

\nYou’ll need to raise your eyes to the ceiling for some pieces, others are literally breaking through the floor. Many of them are frightening realistic and yet surreal or absurd. Cattelan himself made the choice of works to be put on show, a sort or retrospective of his artistic career.<\/p>\n

Actually, we suspect that his ‘retirement’ won’t last forever…<\/p>\n

\nAnd as the Monnaie de Paris has a long history of being associated with money, perhaps it’s only normal that their shop is overflowing with related merchandise for the exhibition!<\/p>\n

This includes\u00a0the\u00a0official catalogue<\/a>\u00a0(55\u20ac), a\u00a0special tote bag<\/a>\u00a0(10\u20ac) and even a\u00a0L.O.V.E. badge giving you the finger<\/a>\u00a0for 120\u20ac.\u00a0Cattelan is indeed fearless!<\/p>\n
