For the first time in France, the Monnaie de Paris<\/a> – close to our hotels<\/a> – is hosting a vast personal exhibition of American artist Kiki Smith, with 94 pieces displayed over 1,000m\u00b2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiki Smith has been creating since the 1980s, always on the theme of the human condition and our link to the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a lot of sculptures (including two giant ones in the museum’s courtyards), this new exhibition also shows the great diversity of Smith’s work, with pieces in bronze, plaster, glass, porcelain, paper, tapestry and even wax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linked with the exhibition there’s:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— a number of conferences on certain Wednesdays,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— a showing of Claudia M\u00fcller’s 2016 documentary, Kiki Smith-<\/a>Work!<\/a><\/em>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— a ‘Smith-style’ workshop to attend as a family, where you can try out some of the artist’s favourite techniques…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith has also designed a piece of jewellery (signed limited edition of 300) and three mini medals (4\u20ac each) to be found in the museum’s shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bilingual catalogue in English and French is also available (192 pages, 32\u20ac, here<\/a> at amazon.fr).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
