One of the biggest exhibitions of the year opens its door this spring in Paris – Napoleon<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organised by the Grand Palais<\/a> and la Villette<\/a>, in collaboration with the Army Museum<\/a>, the Louvre<\/a>, the ch\u00e2teau of Versailles<\/a> and others, over 150 original pieces are being brought together for the first time in a staging that promises to be absolutely epic!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, which falls on the bicentenary of Napoleon’s death, presents his life chronologically and by theme, with nine main sections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— 1779 \u2013 1784<\/strong>: Brienne<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— 1795 \u2013 1799<\/strong>: A soldier of the Revolution<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Napoleon’s Republic<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— The Emperor: his consecration and the spledour of his court<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— The emperor, the emperesses, the king of Rome<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— The war leader<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— 1805 \u2013 1813<\/strong>: Napoleon and l’Europe<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— 1808 \u2013 1814<\/strong>: The decline<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— 1815<\/strong>: The last days<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition also tackles some of Napoleon’s seedier sides – how he reestablished slavery, his reputation as an autocrat, how he acted above the law, how he reinforced unfavourable marital conditions for women…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
