Our hotels<\/a> are perfectly situated on the Left Bank to allow you to reach the biggest and best Paris museums really quickly and simply (the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay<\/a>, the Louvre<\/a>, Quai Branly<\/a>, the Army Museum<\/a>, the Luxembourg Museum<\/a>, the Arab World Institute<\/a>, the Rodin Museum<\/a>, the Natural History Museum<\/a>, the Cluny Museum<\/a>…), and connaisseurs also appreciate us being close to the Bourdelle Museum<\/a>, Zadkine Museum<\/a> and Delacroix Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But did you know that there are around twenty<\/em> other museums and cultural spaces not far form our hotels that also deserve your attention? Here a reminder of the ones we’ve already visited for the blog, and information on the rest (and there’s a lot to see…)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are coming to Paris to enjoy its major exhibitions and incredible museums, the hotels in the HPRG collection<\/a> are the perfect place to stay to enjoy Paris culture to the full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot of visitors come for and see the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay, Natural History Museum and the Luxembourg Museum, but if you want to avoid the crowds, there are some other great places to discover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this article, we’ll tell you all about the cultural spaces that you may now know but are well worth seeking out. We’ve divided them into three categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Maison Auguste Comte<\/a> – the apartment of the famous French philosopher maintained as it was over 150 years ago! Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The History of Medecine Museum<\/a> – An incredible space and some very unusual exhibits. Our visit can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mineralogy Museum of the “\u00c9cole des Mines”<\/a> – old fashioned, but lots of interesting stuff to see. Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Army Medicine Museum<\/a><\/a> – kind of a wild subject for an entire museum: medecine and the armed forces. Bonkers venue too. Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sewers Museum<\/a> – surprising, recently renovated and not as smelly as we were expecting! Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Giacometti Institue<\/a> – the sculptor’s house has exhibitions of his work (and others), and will soon be moving to Invalides, so perhaps you should go down before that? Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seydoux-Path\u00e9 Foundation<\/a> – temporary exhibitions on cinema-related topics, with more of Renzo Piano’s architecture to see during Open House weekend in September of each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fondation Agn\u00e8s B.<\/a> – contemporary art from the clothes designer’s personal collection, in an area being created ex nihilo over the railway lines of Gare d’Austerlitz. Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quai de la Photo<\/a> – free photo exhibition, a specialised bookshop, a restaurant, a bar and even boat tours on the Seine! Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Post Office Museum<\/a> – sounds dull, but really isn’t at all. This super modern museum has a few surprises in store. Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Galerie des Gobelins<\/a> – furniture and tapestry exhibitions in a gorgeous space that had been closed for over 30 years. Our visit is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These museums haven’t has their own article on the blog, but are mentioned a lot because of their great exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maillol Museum<\/a> – modern art in a lovely venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cartier Foundation<\/a> – still in the neighbourhood, but not for long – they’re soon to move opposite the Louvre, and we’ll miss them \ud83d\ude22<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irish Cultural Centre<\/a> – interesting exhibitions from Irish artists, and great opening parties with a food truck!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coll\u00e8ge des Bernardins<\/a> – some great exhibitions, music and talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maison de la culture du Japon \u00e0 Paris<\/a> – Not far from the Eiffel Tower, some unusual exhibitions on offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The places we haven’t been to (yet!)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Mus\u00e9e du compagnonnage<\/a> – in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s, this space explains how France’s ancient traditions of craftsmanship are maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curie Museum<\/a> – the life and scientific research of an exceptional woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maison Poincar\u00e9<\/a> – yes, we have a mathematics museum!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mus\u00e9e de la Lib\u00e9ration de Paris<\/a> – in a new space at Denfert-Rochereau, learn all about thge liberation of Paris at the end of the Second World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mus\u00e9e de la sculpture en plein air<\/a> – an outdoor sculpture ‘museum’ which is more like a park, but also a good excuse to walk along the Seine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dubuffet Foundation<\/a> – temporary exhibition in a hidden and astonishing place.<\/p>\n\n\n
