{"id":71981,"date":"2025-10-23T18:17:21","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T16:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hotels-paris-rive-gauche.com\/blog\/?p=71981"},"modified":"2025-11-03T16:12:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T14:12:23","slug":"cartier-foundation-paris-hotels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hotels-paris-rive-gauche.com\/blog\/2025\/10\/23\/cartier-foundation-paris-hotels\/","title":{"rendered":"The new Cartier Foundation opens in Palais-Royal on 25th October 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We&#8217;re a little sad to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\">the Cartier Foundation<\/a> leave the Left Bank for a new, bigger space in Palais-Royal (opposite the Louvre), designed by star architect Jean Nouvel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there is some good news &#8211; from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotels-paris-rive-gauche.com\/\">our hotels<\/a>, Palais-Royal is just 20 minutes away by metro or 30 minutes away on foot!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other good news is that for the opening weekend, the Foundation is offering free entrance so you can discover its impressive new space, plus what they call the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/programme\/exhibition\/exposition-generale\">Exposition G\u00e9n\u00e9rale<\/a>, a modern art exhibition that will be in place until 26th August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video autoplay loop muted src=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/storage\/uploads\/199bc8a9-bfbd-49db-a19d-4899e02018a4\/VOIR_FONDATION-CARTIER_45MO.mp4\" playsinline><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re a regular visitor to Paris, you may have known <em>Le Louvre des antiquaires<\/em>, a sort of smart shopping centre with just antique shops, housed in a grand building from 1855, opposite the Louvre. Its heyday was the 1980s, but the following decades saw the place slowly fade, and the last shops moved out around ten years ago. It&#8217;s a long story, but the building is now being reborn as the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\">Cartier Foundation<\/a> spread over three floors, with five mobile platforms for maximum versatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"position:relative;width:100%;padding-top:56.25%;\">\n    <iframe style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;\" \n        src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/ZAn9TJlBRPg?si=mHT9mUIv4mavaDNb&#038;autoplay=1&#038;mute=1\" \n        title=\"YouTube video player\" \n        frameborder=\"0\" \n        referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" \n        allowfullscreen>\n    <\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/practical-information\/spaces\/la-librairie\">A specialised bookshop<\/a> is on the ground floor, opposite the Louvre. It&#8217;s open to anyone visiting the exhibitions of course, and to everyone when no temporary exhibition is in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And soon, meaning spring 2026, the Foundation will also have its own &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/practical-information\/spaces\/creative-bar\">creative bar<\/a>&#8216; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/practical-information\/spaces\/the-restaurant\">a restaurant<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"1027\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hotels-paris-rive-gauche.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/ezgif.com-animated-gif-maker.gif\" alt=\"The new Cartier Foundation opens in Palais-Royal the 25th October 2025\" class=\"wp-image-71970\" title=\"The new Cartier Foundation opens in Palais-Royal the 25th October 2025\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">All rights reserved<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For its opening weekend, the Foundation is offering free entrance (that still has to be booked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/tickets\">online<\/a>), and from the following week you&#8217;ll be able to take a 90-minute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/ways-to-visit\/parcours-explorations-architecturales\">guided visit<\/a> of the building (with many other themed visits available too), as well as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/whats-on\">whole programme<\/a> of concerts, shows and mini-exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/programme\/exhibition\/exposition-generale\">Exposition G\u00e9n\u00e9rale<\/a> which will be in place until next summer, showcases forty years of contemporary art at the Cartier Foundation, split into four main sections: <em>Machines d&#8217;Architecture<\/em>, <em>\u00catre Nature<\/em>, <em>Making Things<\/em> and <em>Un Monde R\u00e9el<\/em>. Presentation is by <a href=\"https:\/\/formafantasma.com\/\">Formafantasma<\/a> and specific visits are available for each section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The title of the exhibition references the building&#8217;s past as a department store &#8211; les Grands Magasins du Louvre &#8211; at the end of the 19th century.
