La Parisienne, a women-only fun run in Paris
Sunday 13th September 2009

Are you going to be in town on 13th September 2009 ? Are you a lady? Would you like to take part in a fun run with 15,000 other ladies around one of the poshest parts of Paris? Well, you have until the end of August to sign up. We give you all the details…

If you fancy an out-of-the-ordinary twist to your stay in Paris with a 6km fun run from the Pont d’Iéna to the Champ de Mars (basically, a circuit around the Eiffel Tower) then the 13th Parisienne is for you. Gentlemen, I’m afraid you’ll just have to have a lie in that morning (or perhaps go along and cheer them all on?).

The official site (in English) tries to encourage you to sign up (35€) by saying that 60% of women taking part are doing so for the first time, but doesn’t that mean that each year loads of them decided never to do it again? Anyway…

The idea is to enjoy yourself and get a little exercise, not speed to the finish line. And as well as the main race, there are some other events organised, such as a well-being fair at the Village de La Parisienne on the Champs de Mars and a picnic the day before with a concert. Plus, included in the price is a souvenir DVD of the event (sent to you in October) and your very own diploma to frame!
