Hermès is coming to the Left Bank… and Colette

A.P.C. has been there for a while. Ralph Lauren recently arrived with a quite extraordinary store that fills an entire historic building and its courtyard, and one of the few venerable luxury brands that hadn’t set up shop on the Left Bank is on the point of opening a new flagship store: Hermès will soon be just a few minutes from our hotels, and – in the meantime – is opening a corner at Colette with four limited edition silk squares…
For their first Left Bank store, Hermès has gone to great trouble to find a space as grandiose as their brand, transforming 2,500 square metres of a former swimming pool from the 1930s (a listed national monument no less!). Should be something very special. The store will be opening at 17 rue de Sèvres (here) around 20th November.

This may be part of a rebirth for the are, with Burberry and Balenciaga opening new outlets too, and department store le Bon Marché inaugurating its new men’s fashion area – spread over two floors – in the next few days. The Left Bank is definitely the place to be for fashion!

Whilst the final touches are being made to their glamorous new store, Hermès will be setting up shop in Colette, from 27th September – 16th October, with a micro-collection of four limited edition silk squares, and in order to further help the new, young image that they are trying to purvey, their new site www.jaimemoncarre.com shows four young women in four world capitals wearing Hermès and being young and trendy hope that you’ll be seduced into buying €400 of silk. A Facebook page is also there to back it up. 😉

The new Hermès Rive Gauche boutique opens 19th or 20th November 2010 at 17 rue de Sèvres (here).
