Raoul and Jean Dufy – Working together and breaking apart at the Musée Marmottan until 26th June 2011

Can this really be the first French exhibition about Raoul and Jean Dufy, as the organisers say? Quite possibly; even if Raoul’s work is well known, his brother – also a painter – has always been in the shadows. Until now…

With 11 years difference between them, it was definitely the older, more successful brother who encouraged the younger… or perhaps not? They were incredibly prolific, creating over 2,500 works!

The exposition showcases around 100 paintings, watercolours and ceramic works taken from museums and private collections around the world, putting the accent on the links between their work that went beyond just family ties.

Two bilingual catalogue are being published for the exhibition. The first is the official catalogue of the exhibition itself (and costs less than 30 euros), and the other is the second volume of Jean Dufy’s entire works (which you can order here… for 500€ plus postage and packing!).
