The Notre-Dame Christmas tree
from 28th November 2011 – 2nd February 2012

If if you are not particularly religious, the façade of Notre-Dame is impressive by day and pretty breathtaking by night, and for Xmas – as they do every year – they’ll be adding an extra shiny sparkly something to the square in front of it; probably the biggest Xmas tree anywhere outside in Paris – over 10 metres high!

The cathedral will soon be celebrating its 850-year anniversary (wow!), starting 12th December 2012 and continuing until 11th December 2013, with a number of special happenings:

– a new peal of eight bells in the cathedral towers
– rethought interior lighting
– restoration of the main organs
– an special season of music, and
– a facelift for the square in front of the cathedral
