La Fête du Cinéma from 30th June – 3rd July 2013

La Fête du Cinéma used to be a rather complicated way of seeing films a lot cheaper over a few days. First, you would have to buy a ticket at the standard price. Then you would have to pick up a special ‘passport’. And finally you would have to present your ‘passport’ when going to the cinema again in order to get your seat at a reduced cost.

Well all that kerfuffle is history – the new Fête du Cinéma is simple: 3.50€ per seat, for everyone, immediately. Voilà!

Here are all the details, plus our extra special selection of Paris’ best cinemas so you get the best out of your cheap movie!La Fête du Cinéma du 30 juin au 3 juillet 2013La Fête du Cinéma is dead, long live la nouvelle Fête du Cinéma, with its super simple 3.50€ per seat, without all the hoops they used to make you jump through. Finally.

These four days of cut-price cinema now happen at a fixed time each year, the last Friday of June, and perhaps now would be a good time to tell where we like to see our films in Paris?

L’Arlequin – not far from our hotels (here), and a great choice of films.

Le Nouvel Odéon. Designed by Matali Crasset and completely renovated a couple of years ago. A sweet little cinema (here).

The Max Linder. The best cinema in Paris (choose seat on the mezzanine for the best view), 560 places, amazing sound, digital projection… Not to be missed (here).

The Pathé Wepler. One screen is dubbed “Pathé+” – it’s the only cinema in Paris with Dolby Atmos sound (55 speakers, including loads over your head), one of the rare places to project films in 4K (ultra HD) and HFR (twcie as many frames per second). Here.

La Fête du Cinéma runs from 30th June – 3rd July 2013
