From New York to Paris, the new exhibition at la Belle Juliette organised in collaboration with the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, presents the work of American photographer Gail Albert Halaban.

In her series Out My Window, in New York and Vis à Vis, in Paris, Halaban photographs the city and its buildings, together with their inhabitants seen in going about their everyday business.

Showing spectacular urban vistas whose apartments seem like little illuminated theatres, her work reveals the architectural and cultural specificities of each neighbourhood and its inhabitants, giving a new perspective on cities, and showing the scale between buildings and people, both near and far at the same time.

Gail Albert Halaban uses the social networks to contact her subjects and their neighbours, thus creating contact in the anonymity of the city.

For her photos, she places herself at the same height as the subject, taking their photo from the building opposite, allowing her to capture moments of life in a cinematic décor that expands beyond their space and into the entire city.

Yet another great (free!) exhibition to see at the Hôtel and Spa la Belle Juliette!
