The AOC restaurant in the 5th arrondissement in Paris.

Is your appetite under control, or out of control?

We’ve already mentioned how good the AOCrestaurant is, without giving you a visual taste of the mix of authentic and traditional food that they have on offer.

Lunch there is always a success, as the cooks really love and know their food.

As soon as we entered the restaurant our nostrils were twitching form the delicious smells coming from the rotisserie.

The menu has a large choice of great dishes, all made with carefully-chosen tasty products.

As a first choice, we chose a seafood platter with melt-in-the-mouth salmon prepared like herrings, and scallops with citrus juice.

The main course choice was a beef stew, with the country-style bread allowing us to mop up the taste of the marrow bone.

The cod filet came with fabulous homemade mashed potatoes with small bits of real potato left in to make sure you know where it came from.

For those who like a bit of game, the wild boar mignon turned out to be an especially subtle and juicy discovery.

To stimulate the end of your tongue, there has to be a bit of dessert.
Benedictine Basque cheese and black cherry jam from the Pyrenees finishes off the meal on a light refined note.

And for the hardened gourmet there are some larger desserts, such as the chocolate waffle of the rice pudding.

Our special recommendation goes to the “Teurgoule-style rice pudding” (a speciality of Normandy), cooked slowly to bring out its soft caramelised taste. Perhaps not a reasonable choice, but it’s difficult to contradict your stomach! And if you’re wondering why there’s no photo of it, it’s because we ate it so quickly that there wasn’t time to get a shot. You’ll have to try it out for yourself.

If you are not sure which dessert to try, why not go for the ‘café gourmand’, a coffe which comes served with a delicate chocolate cream dessert and some lovely rice pudding.

One last bit of advice for those who like to pamper their taste buds; don’t hesitate to order a coffee. Even if you feel stuffed to the limit, we guarantee you’ll down it in one.
