Salon du Cheval – the Paris horse show, 1st – 9th December 2007

Jumping, cantering, stroking… everything for the equestrian in you.

This is the 36th edition of the Salon du Cheval, being held at the Porte de Versailles exhibition space, and nearly 200,000 visitors are expected.

Several events are planned during the 9 days:

Le Jumping de Paris
This includes for the first time the Paris Pony Jump, open to under 16s

Le Défilé de Paris
A parade through Paris unlike any other you have ever seen, with over 300 horses! The march is on Sunday 2nd December, from 10am to 1pm, starting from the Bois de Boulogne and going right through the city. You can check the route here.

La Nuit du Cheval
This is a special show (two and a half hours long) with horses doing tricks. Three performances are planned, Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December. Check below for full details of times and entrance fees.

The Arab Horse World Championships
With the King of Morocco as patron, this is held at 10am on 7th, 8th and 9th December. Entrance is included in the general fee for the salon, but places are limited.

The Kids Village
Lots of children love horses, and this is where they can see the cowboys and indian villlages, try stunts on horseback (with the help of a professional stuntman), and get a free snack (Wednesdays and the weekend at 4.15pm). There’s also a horse drawing contest currently open, where you can win free entrance to the salon for a family. Click here for more details (in French only).
