Paris Gay & Lesbian Film Festival 2008

The Rex cinema is the scene for this year’s selection from 13th-20th November

This week-long festival aims to showcase films for its specialist audience that often have difficulties being distributed. For its thirteenth edition, the festival has several high points:

– A great mix of subjects and formats (35mm, video, Super-8…)

– A large number of women-interest films

– A showing of cult film A Bigger Splash, in a fresh new copy.

– Showing of Fabulous! The Story of Queer Cinema, with a debate after the film

– Pay cable channel Canal+ will be showing the film that they will later be screening as part of their annual Gay Night, called Gay, What Next? which investigates how gay identity, until now essentially fashioned by exclusion and rejection, will evolve now that gays are becoming more integrated, as well as looking at gay culture in countries such as China where gays are still vilified

– Parties! Opening party on Tuesday 13th at the Rex Club, just under the cinema, closing party at the Troisième Lieu, Tuesday 20th November with the indescribable creature The Man Inside Corrine, plus special versions of established club night Eyes Need Sugar and Popingays on the 17th and 18th November respectively (check the “Les Fêtes” section on the site. Scroll down the list on the left hand side of the page)

A great number of the films are in English (and some are not suitable for under 16s)
