"Nyctalope", a new photo exhibition by Frédéric Delangle at the Galerie Philippe Chaume

Think you’ve heard of Frédéric Delangle before? Indeed you have; he was the winner of our photo competition “A hotel photo, an artist’s view” last year, and it would seem he is going from strength to strength…

Of course Frédéric has been busy since winning our prize, as this new exhibition shows. Still exploring the many forms of long exposure photography, his new series find him in the countryside, bringing light into the night with directional lamps that sculpt the scenes he photographs.

Nyctalope, by the way, was a French superhero that appeared in newspapers between 1910 and 1946. His superpower was being able to see in the dark. It also describes more generally any person or animal with good night vision (and is the opposite of nyctalopia).
