Make the most of Paris’ cinemas and pay next to nothing

Paris is a cinephile‘s dream, with hundreds of films of all styles shown each week. but only other big cities (such as London, where you will pay a fortune to see a film in the heart of the city) Paris treats its cinema as proper culture that should be kept affordable. In the next two months, get ready for two special offers with tickets at just three euros!…

So you’re in Paris, you love cinema, but you’ve spent all your money on excellent meals and plastic Eiffel Towers. What can you do?

Well you’re in luck; in August and September there are two special offers, both spread over three days, allowing you to sample the best selection of films the way they were meant to be seen – in a great cinema.

The first event is on 17th, 18th & 19th August 2008. On those days, in any of Paris’ 376 cinemas, your ticket will only cost 3 euros ($4.50 / £2.35). Last year, over 330,000 people took advantage of the offer.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the same thing will be happening on 14th, 15th & 16th September. This time it’s to ‘celebrate’ the end of the summer holidays, and is called “La Rentrée du Cinéma”. This time, tickets cost 3.5 euros ($5.25 / £2.75). Hope that’s not too expensive for you 😉

There should be more on the latter event on the official site, still under construction for the moment.

We suggest trying out a couple of our favourite cinemas, such as the Max Linder Panorama on the Grands Boulevards, or the Publicis Cinéma on the Champs Elysées. Both have digital projections (when a digital copy is available), giant screens and great sound for the full-on cinema experience. We’ll be doing a whole article on Paris’ best cinemas in the near future…
