First edition of a new kind of festival for European photographers, this year with the theme of… Europeans !

36 young photographers give us their take on Europe, in a festival unlike any other, highlighting our shared culture and heritage.Organised by the Fetart association and destined to be an annual event each March, the festival will be taking place at the prestigious Parc de Bagatelle, a beautiful park and classical buildings found in the Bois de Boulogne, just to the west of the city. Several of the photographer chosen haven taken part (or soon will) in our very own photo project PHPA, like Frédéric Delangle, Lionel Pralus and Thomas Jorion (June 2011).

As well as the photos on show, there are loads of interesting things going on around the exhibition, like the Carte Blanche chosen by Laura Serani (9 photographers), the selection by SFR Jeunes Talents, a public gallery opening on Saturday 19th February from 3-7pm, free conference each weekend, portfolio readings on 12th and 13th March, screens and headphone to watch a selection of short multimedia creations, an exhibition in the exhibition with the theme of forêts périurbaines d’Europe (which means something like “the forests that are found between at the edge of towns, not quite in the countryside, in Europe”) (organised together with the Paris Environment and Green Spaces Department), a bookstore hosted by la Librairie Photographique on weekends and for the opening and closing ceremonies…

Should make it all worth a visit! Oh, and there’s a bilingual available catalogue too.

And on top of all that, for the opening party, a vintage bus from the 1950s will be transporting visitors free of charge from Porte Maillot to the Parc de Bagatelle. AND visitors will be able to have their photo taken in a mini photo studio with a fun background, have it printed out and take it home with them. All for free! Cool!
