The Paris fashion museum reopens after major remodeling with the first Parisian retrospective of designer Azzedine Alaïa’s work, an exhibition that also spills over into the Matisse room of the Museum of Modern Art opposite…

With 70 pieces on show, the exhibition will show the evolution of Azzedine Alaïa‘s work, with clothes that are considered almost as works of art, having been shown at the Guggenheim in New York together with paintings of Andy Warhol, and at the CAPC museum in Bordeaux with sculptures by Dan Flavin.

Admired by people as diverse as Naomi Campbell and Great Garbo, spanning decades of different fashion styles, Alaïa is famous for surrounding the body in a way that creates a new silhouette, almost like sculpture.

Events related to the exhibition include readings, guided visits, workshops and storytelling for kids, and an official catalogue has been published (216 pages, 128 photos and illustrations, 35€ here at amazon.fr).
