The museum’s inaugural display, which will be in place until 9th September 2018 (when another exhibition Yves Saint Laurent’s Dreams of Asia takes its place), is a brand new retrospective est un rétrospectif inédit de l’œuvre d’Yves Saint Laurent, présenté dans le lieu historique de l’ancienne maison de couture.

Here’s all the info.

Whether you’re a fashionista or a fan, the chances are you can never get enough of the life and work of Yves Saint Laurent (after a couple of recent documentaries and films). If so, a visit to the brand new Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Paris is exactly what you need.

The fashion house of YSL closed over fifteen years ago, Saint Laurent and his companion/lover Pierre Bergé are now both gone, but the world of this incredible creator is still just as fascinating. His life was extraordinary, as was his talent, and for its first exhibition, the museum is showing over fifty emblematic dresses over 450 m² in the building that served as the company’s headquarters for nearly thirty years.

As well as clothes, you’ll be able to study drawings by Saint Laurent and see the accessories he created, together with photos and videos of him.

The visit then continues into his studio and the former haute couture salons.

If you’re familiar with the space the the old Fondation used for temporary exhibitions, you’ll be agreeably surprised to find that it is now twice as big. Fashion fans will find a visit essential, and of course the opening of any new museum in Paris is great news.

With fashion showing at the Decorative Arts Museum and the Palais Galliera, no other city in the world can beat Paris’ dedication to the art!
