The Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris has just opened two new exhibitions – the photos and films of Mohamed Bourouissa, and a new retrospective of Jean Fautrier‘s paintings and sculptures.

Here’s all the info.

Mohamed Bourouissa’s photos havce focalised on the marges of society for a while now, and his Urban Riders project explores the  poor neighbourhood of  Strawberry Mansion in Philadelphia with the film Horse Day.

The exhibition shows not only the film, but also around 24 works that were created during its preparation – the storyboard, collages, watercolours…
Jean Fautrier has already has a couple of retrospectives at the MAM, following an important donation of his work in the early 1960s, but the last one was nearly thirty years ago.

This time, over 200 works are on show – 160 paintings and many sculptures – displaying the evolution of the artist’s work from 1920 to his death in 1964.

It’s difficult to believ that he started his professional life as a ski monitor and hotel manager!
The exhibitions Mohamed Bourouissa – Urban Riders and Jean Fautrier – Texture and Light are at the  Musée d’art moderne de la Ville de Paris (here) from 26th January – 22nd April 2018 (Bourouissa) and 26th January – 20th May 2018 (Fautrier)

Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-6pm (10pm Thursdays)
